I had found an advertisement website for anti-smoking campaign. These advertisements use the emotional appeal of fear. The fear of what happens if one smokes or keeps smoking. It is an advertisement protesting against the nicotine and tobacco company and the people who use. It is portraying how harmful cigarettes are to, not only our own personal health, but also to those around us. This form of emotional appeal, in my perspective works very well, because it relates smoking to death. One of the fear that many have, or the fear of being ill or sick. It also a good argument, because there are statistical and scientific research over the years that helps prove to many that smoking does harm to your body and others around you. Although these advertisements are in picture form, but it is a very profound and strong of advertisement, seeing how dramatic each advertisement is and adamant about not smoking. An emotional appeal is an appeal, a form of claim or argument that touches on the premises of human sensibility and emotions. I believe these advertisement did a good job in pointing that out.
This advertisement is strong and shows many different kinds of appeal to fear for the future. This shows that the more that people are somoking the greater chance that people will be facing death and will not have a chance to live. Even though this does not fear me much, this type of advertisement can help reduce the amount of people that smoke cigarettes on a daily basis and are trying to find many different ways to quit while they still can. I alos agre about how this kind of advertisement is dramatic and that it leads to an emnotional appeal. It does touch the human feelings, especially to those who are smoking on a daily basis.
ReplyDeleteI really love the example you chose for appeal to fear. All of the advertisement featured on the site are very effective in persuading people to not smoke and to show what you are doing to your body and those around you. I also thought the advertisements are good because they also showed how buying cigarettes is like you burning away your money. Some of the photos are somewhat graphic and I can see how they would work for appeal to fear. I have seen many advertisements for preventing people from smoking, but I have never seen any of these shown on the link. I really like them all and they are different from the ones I have seen in magazines. Great work on this post!
ReplyDeleteI love this advertisement it really shows you a lot about what companies will do to persuade you to do or in this case not to do! Fear is such a powerful emotion that is sometimes used against us as consumers. Obously in this case it was used right. I feel that is these anti smoking campaigns the message is getting stronger with the more fear that they start to but in to this. I think you did a really good job to pick an advertisement that really shows what fear in advertizing is all about. This hits the nail right on the head!
